Lighting a wood-fired hot tub involves a few quick steps to heat the water efficiently and safely. A full tub usually takes about 1.5 to 3.5 hours to reach 38 to 40 degrees depending on how cold it is and whether the tub was heated the day before.

We supply firelighters, softwood kindling, and hardwood logs. Further baskets can be purchased - just ask.

1. Check the water: Never light the fire unless the hot tub is filled, as it will damage the heater.

2. Lay the fire: Place 2 to 3 firelighters in the centre of the stove box. Stack a handful of dry, softwood kindling in a crisscross over the firelighters. Then place 2 to 3 larger hardwood logs on top. See photos below.

3. Light the fire: Light the firelighters and leave the stove door air vents fully open to ensure air flow. See photo below.

4. Check the fire: Once the fire is burning vigorously you should see very little smoke from the chimney. If there is a lot of smoke then the fire is not getting enough air so check the stove door air vents are fully open, or open the door a little to let more air in. Close the door once the fire is going well, but leave the vents open.

5. Add more logs: every 20-30 mins check if more hardwood logs can be added as space allows.
